  greetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.

  still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.

  sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.

  Welcome, Eden! Nice to have a different perspective on the site.

  I can't help but wondering something, however. You seem to be happy to stay in the organization while promoting your dissenting views against it. I am sure that you are very much aware that if the elders found that you personally were responsible for the "Christian Fraternity of Jehovah's People" website, that you would most likely be disfellowshiped for it.

  How would you react if they were to disfellowship you for having these views (and promoting them online)? This is the very reason Carl Olof Jonson was disfellowshiped. All of a sudden this Fraternity of "jehovahs" people would be dissolved and you would be cast out. As much as you may think these people your friends, many would turn on you in a second if you were df'd.

  I guess I always wonder how people justify it all. Recognizing that the WT is a false organization, yet staying. Is it a desire to somehow "reform" the organization? Is it a desire to be a "mole"? If you believe it's God's organization gone corrupt, why must you stay in?

  I too looked over your site and saw your peculiar views. And like Cofty, it seems like there is very little that is different from the Watchtower. Could you answer this: Do you believe that God has an organization that he is using exclusively on earth? Are there "saved" people in other religions? Is being a part of the Watchtower an essential to getting saved? Is it essential for a person to be "born again" in order to be saved? Would not all Christians, then, need to partake of the memorial emblems?

  I'm just curious. We usually either get hardcore jws here, doubting jws, or all the way OUT jws. It's interesting to get a current jw that disagrees with the WT, yet has held on to so many of its peculiar teachings.

  since leaving the wt, i have spoted so many false teachers from osteen to creflo dollar, but there is some great men of god who speak truth,who arnt afraid to proclaim the gospel, and who dont cater to tickling mens ears my three favorite are paul washer, steve lawson and john piper.

  this video takes a while to get going, but pretty much starts around 3:30. i think this is a great argument regarding the implications of the wts information control (the "i" in the bite model).

  professor hubner gives a great argument.

  but do you think that this would get a "not yet doubting" jw to think about their position on not reading any critical information?.

  There is a fantastic example of how JWs think at the 7:45 point. He is speaking to a JW that wants to talk to him about the NWT. The JW makes the claim that the NWT is based on the oldest manuscripts. Prof Hubner says, "Ok, what manuscripts are those?" The JW doesn't know... Isn't this how we thought as JWs? We didn't need to research anything. If the WT said it, we believed it. No need to research anything else.

  emailed PDF's count as placements!

  sorry if this has already been discussed.. but at the service meeting this week on jw.org it was clearly stated by our cobe that pdf's from jw.org that are emialed to interested persons count as placements!!!.

  okay folks, next time you get a circular spam email, copy all the recipients and there is your contact list.

  email thousands of people watchtower pdf's and watch the placements soar through the roof!!!.

  zechariah 11:12,13 is viewed as a prophecy pertaining to judas, and fufilled at matt 26:14-16 and matt 27:9. judas, as we know, sold out jesus for 30 pieces of silver.

  i noticed something when reading the verses in zechariah, though.

  judas sold out and betrayed jesus, however zechariah is a prophecy being spoken by jehovah and pertaining to himself.. vs 12: "then i said to them:" who is the "i"?

  John, I've noticed that hermeneutical difference too. Sometimes it seemed like they were taking two unrelated events and sticking them together in a way that we would never dream of doing today.

  What evidence is there for Jesus (NOT USING THE BIBLE)?

  i have often wondered if there is any actual archealogical evidence that jesus existed other than the claims of the bible.. i don't want to go down the route of 'you can't prove he didn't exist' as this is tiresome.

  or 'well pontius pilate existed we found a stone with his name on so it follows jesus existed!

  Here is an article about the changes that occur in oral traditions. It attests that oral tradition is reliable only for a certain amount of time, but also shows that it can be extremely accurate for long periods. It even attests to accuracy of traditions past on for 1000 years before it began to break down. It gives the example of Norse traditions that used mneumonic devices to increase the accuracy of passing down tradition. You may find it interesting. Especially since the oral tradition I'm speaking of is a mere 20 or 30 years after Jesus' death.

  Richard Dawkins FUNNY mistake

  I wasn't arguing in favor of the writer of the article. I just thought it was funny that when he accused Christians of not knowing that Matthew was the first book of the NT (of which fact I find debatable), and then asked if he could give the full title of Origins (which he said, "Yes, I could"), he proceeded to flub on it.

  Just funny. Nothing I found profound about either position.
